    Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the Central recruitment agency. It is responsible for conducting various exams for the recruitment of Central Government Public Services.

    Civil Services Examination

    Civil Services Exam is a competitive exam conducted for the UPSC recruitment of All India Services like IAS/IPS and other Group A and B services.

    UPSC conducts Civil Services Exam in three stages

    1. Prelims Exam (Objective Type Questions)
    2. Mains Exam (Descriptive Type Questions)
    3. Interview

    Civil Services Exam Pattern

    UPSC IAS Prelims Exam

    Civil Services Prelims exam consists of two papers. The examination is conducted for 200 marks for each paper and duration is 2 hours.

    1. GS Paper 1 – 100 Questions – 200 Marks – 2 hours
    2. GS Paper 2 (CSAT) – 80 Questions – 200 Marks – 2 hours

    UPSC IAS Mains Exam

    UPSC Civil Services Mains exam consists of 9 papers and all the papers are descriptive in nature. Candidates are given 3 hours for each paper. The list of papers is as follows –

    1. English Paper (Qualifying Paper)
    2. Language Paper (Qualifying Paper)
    3. Essay Paper
    4. GS Paper 1
    5. GS Paper 2
    6. GS Paper 3
    7. GS Paper 4
    8. Optional Paper 1
    9. Optional Paper 2

    UPSC Interview

    Candidates who are all qualified for Mains exam is called for Interview. The Interview is conducted to assess the personality of candidates. The interview is conducted for 275 marks.

    Indian Forest Service Exam

    Indian Forest Service Exam is the Forestry service of India. It is one of the three All India Services of the Government of India. Its members are recruited by the national government but serve under state government or central government.

    UPSC Conducts Forest Services in three stages:

    1. Civil Services Prelims Exam (common for both IFS and Civil Services Exam)
    2. IFS Mains Exam
    3. Interview

    IFS Prelims Exam

    IFS Mains Exam

    Indian Forest Services Mains exam is descriptive in nature and each exam is conducted for 3 hours. In Mains exam there are total six papers. Apart from General Studies and English paper candidates need to select two optional papers for IFS Mains Exam.

    IFS Eligibility

    Age Limit for IFS Exam

    The candidate must be in between 21 years and 32 years on 1 August of the year of commencement of exams.Upper age limit is relaxable in certain cases.

    Educational Qualification

    The candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the below subjects.

    • Botany
    • Chemistry
    • Geology
    • Mathematics
    • Physics
    • Statistics
    • Zoology
    • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering

    Engineering Services Exam

    Engineering Service examination is conducted by UPSC. It primarily constitutes of Engineers who work for or under Government of India. The task of those selected for Engineering Service is to manage a large segment of Public sector economy which comprises of Railroads, Public works, Power, Telecommunications etc.

    Engineering Services Prelims Exam

    In the Engineering Services Prelims Exam, there is two paper, both are objective in nature.

    Paper 1 – General Studies and Engineering Aptitude – 200 marks – 2 hours

    Paper 2 – Engineering Discipline – 300 marks – 3 hours

    Engineering Services Mains Exam

    Engineering Services Mains exam are descriptive in nature. Candidates need to write the subject of their engineering subject expertise. UPSC conducts engineering services exam for four categories

    • Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering

    Mains exam consists of the following papers –

    Paper 1 – Engineering Discipline – Paper 1 – 3 Hours – 300 Marks

    Paper 2 – Engineering Discipline – Paper 2 – 3 Hours – 300 Marks

    Engineering Services Exam Eligibility

    • The candidate needs to be in between 21 years and 30 years by 1st January of the date of commencement of exam. Age relaxation exists by the government rule.
    • The candidate must have an Engineering degree from a recognized university.Final year students can also appear for the exam.

    Combined Defense Service (CDS) exam

    The UPSC conducts Combined Defense Service exam twice a year for the recruitment of candidates to Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Indian Air Force Academy (AFA). CDS provide an opportunity to those aspirants who have a desire to serve the country by being a part of Military forces of the country.

    • For Air Force Academy: Degree from a recognized University of Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelors of Engineering

    Central Armed Police Force(CAPF) exam

    UPSC conducts CAPF exams to recruit candidates for Central Armed Forces which Includes Border Security Force(BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force(CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
