UPSC Online Application – Registration Date–Procedure to Apply Online
UPSC Prelims Examinations 2019-20 will be held on 2nd June 2019 and the application forms were made available from the 19th February 2019 on the date the notification was released. Civil Service exam aspirants can register online by logging onto the UPSC official website.

How to Fill the Online Application Form
- Log on to https://upsc.gov.in/ to access the home page of the Online Application
- Click on Apply Online to view all the examinations
- Click on Online Application for Various Examinations
- Place the mouse over the Examination menu. The link would display a set of two options namely 'PART-I Registration' and 'PART-II Registration'
- Clicking on 'PART-I Registration' link would take you to the list of all the active examinations, where you can select to apply for any of the listed examinations by clicking on the link 'Click Here' against each exam
PART-I of UPSC Online Registration
Here you need to provide personal information to apply online, which includes Name, Address, Community Details and your Parents' Name.
Click on the Continue button at the bottom of the page to proceed to the second page.
On this page, preferences for Indian Military Academy (IMA), Naval Academy (NA), Air Force Academy (AFA), Officers Training Academy (OTA) are to be provided. Providing at least one preference is compulsory. Since Female candidates are eligible for OTA only, they should indicate OTA as the only preference.
Candidates who desire to join Air Force Academy must indicate AFA as the first choice. If a candidate does not want to indicate AFA as his preference, then he must indicate o against it.
On this page, you are also required to indicate, whether you have or are likely to have NCC 'C'certificate (Sr. Division) and whether you are already serving in the armed forces.
On this page, you are also required to indicate whether you belong to a Sainik School. The response is to be furnished by using Yes or No .
Click on the Continue button at the bottom of the page to go to the third page.
All the information provided by the candidate will be displayed here and the candidate can move back and make corrections, if needed. No change in the information filled in will be allowed at any later stages of the examination process. Make sure to double check all the information you have provided.
Once all the information has been verified as correctly entered, click on the Continue button at the bottom of the page to go to the fourth page.
The page will display a unique system-generated UPSC Registration ID with the essential information about the candidate which includes Name, Parents' Name, DOB, Address etc. The application will only be accepted with the Part - II Registration.
Here, PART-I of the Online Application procedure is complete. A candidate has to complete the PART-II Registration for the successful Online Application submission.
Part-II of UPSC Online Registration
This part of the UPSC online registration involves the following actions:
- Fee Payment
- Choosing your Examination centre
- Uploading your Photograph
- Uploading your Signature
A candidate has the option to either agree or disagree with the contents of Declaration by clicking on I have read Declaration & Agree or I Do Not Agree buttons. Accepting the I have read Declaration & Agree will submit the candidate's Online Application.
UPSC Application Fee Payment
There are three options for fee payment:
- Pay Cash at any branch of State Bank of India through the deposit slip generated by the Online Application Process
- Pay Online using the Net-Banking facility of the SBI and its branches
- Pay Online using any VISA/ Master Debit or Credit card issued by any Bank/Institution
The Application Form should be filled with updated information and the candidate should ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria at the time of application. The UPSC will accept only a complete application form of Part-I and Part-II.
Withdrawal of Application
IMPORTANT - UPSC entertains NO request for withdrawal of candidature received from a candidate after he/she has submitted his/her UPSC application under any circumstances. Therefore, candidates are advised to be careful and crosscheck the application form before the final submission.
However, it should be noted that the attempt is calculated after the candidate has taken the Prelims examination and not after filling the form.
For example: Suppose a candidate filled his form but didn't sit for UPSC Prelims. Then, this attempt will not be calculated.
