UPSC IES Books: The Indian Engineering Services (IES) is an examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruiting engineers to the position of Class-1 officers under the Government of India. GATE can also be taken by international students, and it is conducted by IIT Bombay, Roorkee, Guwahati, Delhi, Madras, Kharagpur, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. It is a three-hour exam that comprises 65 numerical and multiple-choice questions. The GATE score has a validity of three years and can also be used to gain admission to:

  • Various reputed foreign universities such as National University Singapore, Technical University of Munich (Germany), Aachen University (Germany) or Nanyang Technical University (Singapore), along with scholarships.
  •  Fellowship Program at an IIM, which is equal to a PhD, along with a monthly stipend (Rs. 35,000 - 40,000) and a one-time grant. (1,00,000 - 2,00,000).
  • Admission to the coveted NITIE, Mumbai.
