CAPF Exam Pattern 2020 and Syllabus

CAPF Exam Pattern: UPSC conducts Central Armed Police Force Exam for the recruitment of Assistant commandants under Ministry of Home Affairs viz, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

CAPF aspirants are advised to go through the complete exam pattern before they start their preparation. This will help them in understanding the examination pattern and do well in the examination. CAPF Recruitment for Assistant Commandant takes place after a Selection Procedure which is divided into three stages.

For the CAPF exam, one needs to know about the Exam Pattern. Before appearing in examination candidates should have clear about CAPF exam pattern, its marking scheme in details, duration etc. To get recruited, candidates need to clear the three most essential sections which are as follows:

1)Written Test Paper I & Paper II
2)Physical Efficiency Test (PET) / Medical Standards Test
3)Personal Interview

CAPF Exam Pattern

There will be 2 papers in CAPF examination- Paper I and Paper II.

Paper I - General Ability & Intelligence

It is a objective type question paper consists of 125 questions of compulsory type. The total marks allotted will be 250 and total duration is 2 hours.

Paper II - Descriptive Exam

It will be from General Studies, Essay & Comprehension and will be out of 200 marks and duration will be 3 hours. Paper II will have 20 questions of compulsory type.

Paper I will cover the topics from these areas-

  • General mental ability
  • Indian & world geography
  • General Science
  • History of India
  • Indian polity & economy
  • Current events of national & international importance

Paper II (General studies, essay & comprehension)

Paper II will cover the following topics-

  • Precis writing
  • Report writing
  • Essay writing (approx. 800 words)
  • Question from comprehension & passage
  • Counter argument type questions
  • Other grammar questions
