SSC CGL Exam pattern 2019 - Tier I

SSC CGL tier I is a computer-based test and will have four sections - General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language. According to SSC CGL exam pattern 2019, there will be a total of 100 questions conducted for 200 marks.  Candidates will have to complete the paper within an hour. SSC CGL Exam Pattern for Tier II

As per the exam pattern of SSC CGL, tier II will be held for four papers – Paper 1, 2, 3, 4. Paper 1 is quantitative abilities while Paper 2 is English Language. Paper 3 will have questions from the subject of Statistics whereas Paper 4 contains questions related to General Studies. Paper 1 and 2 is common for all the posts. The questions of Paper 1 will be based on class 10 standards whereas Paper 2 will be based on 10+2 level.

Candidates who have applied for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer will have to appear for Paper 3 and 4 respectively as per SSC CGL exam pattern 2019. For them, the questions will be based on graduation level. Also, there will be negative marking.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern for Tier III

The Tier III examination is a descriptive paper and pen test while the others are online tests. This test helps to access the written skills of the candidates, which is essential for government jobs. The questions carry 100 marks.

  • Tier III examinations are introduced since CGL 2019 to access the written skills of candidates.
  • Candidates can choose English or Hindi as a medium
  • Candidates have to obtain 33 per cent in Tier-III
  • The paper comprises essay writing or passage writing of 250 words and letter or application writing of 150 words
  • Candidates can prepare the syllabus of 10+2 standard.
  • Marks obtained in Tier I, Tier II will determine the candidate s eligibility to attend Tier III and Tier IV

  • CPT (Computer Proficiency Test) is for candidates who apply for Assistant Section Officer in CSS post
  • DEST (Data Entry Skill Test)is for candidates who apply for Tax assistant post
  • The eligibility of DEST speed test is of 8000 key depressions per hour
