SBI PO Result
The State Bank of India conducts a competitive examination for the recruitment in the public sector bank. It is an ideal opportunity for those candidates who aspire to be a part of the Bank and develop their career. Only those candidates who have qualified in the Prelims examination can appear for the Mains. And those candidates who qualify the Mains examination are shortlisted for the group exercise and final interview round.
In 2017, about 6,376 candidates qualified for the final round of group exercise and interview. The result is declared for only those candidates who appeared in the preliminary examination.The examination is conducted in three stages:
Stage 1- Preliminary examination
Stage 2- Mains examination
Stage 3- Group Discussion and Personal Interview

- Candidates need to check the result on the official website.
- On the website, candidates should enter the Roll number and date of birth or the SBI PO registration number and Date of birth.
- After providing the details, the candidates need to click on the submit button.
- You can now view your results.
How to calculate the marks for SBI PO Mains
SBI PO Mains consist of a multiple-choice examination as well as descriptive questions. There will be a negative marking of one-fourth for every wrong attempt.In order to calculate the marks, you need to consider:
Marks in Reasoning and Computer Aptitude out of 60
+ Marks attained in Data Analysis and Interpretation out of 60
+ Marks obtained in General Awareness and Banking Awareness out of 40
+ Marks in the English Language out of 40.
To this figure, add the marks in Descriptive Test out of 50.
To calculate the marks obtained in the Descriptive paper, consider the marks of Group Exercise out of 30 + marks of the Interview out of 20.
SBI PO results for Prelims
The results of SBI PO Prelims arebased on the marks obtained by the candidates across four sections. Those candidates who qualify the prelims based on the sectional cutoff and overall cutoff will be eligible to appear for the Mains examination. It is important to note that the result of preliminary examination will not be considered for the calculation of the final result. However, candidates need to qualify the prelims examination to be eligible for the next round. The number of candidates chosen is 20 times the vacancy for the SBI PO Mains exam.
How to calculate the marks for SBI PO result for Prelims:
- For every correct answer, one mark will be awarded.
- For every incorrect answer, 0.25% marks will be deducted.
In order to calculate the marks, the marks obtained in English out of 30 should be added to marks obtained in Quantitative Aptitude out of 35, which should be added to marks obtained in Reasoning Ability out of 35 to reach the final marks.
SBI PO Result for Group Exercise and Interview
State Bank of India conducts the group exercise and interview for the successful candidates of SBI PO Mains. The group exercises/discussion (GD) are of 30 marks and the personal interview (PI) is for 20 marks. The cut-off for the SBI PPO GD-PI is decided by the Bank. For the final selection, the State Bank of India will announce the final results and the marks will be calculated after the normalization process of Mains and GD - PI marks. The marks of SBI PO Prelims will not be taken into consideration for preparing the final result. Only the marks of PO Mains and GD - PI will be considered.
Procedure to calculate marks for SBI PO Finals
Those candidates who have cleared the Mains examination in both descriptive and objective paper as well as the GD and PI will be considered for the final result. The SBI applies a process of normalization, which is as follows:
The Mains examination marks (combined marks of both the papers) will be converted into maximum marks 75 out of 250. Next, the marks for Group discussion and interview will be converted from 25 out of 50 marks. The final result will be derived after the normalization process to a maximum of 100 for each category.
The final merit list will be released by SBI and the candidates who secure a higher rank will be chosen for the post of Probationary Officers in the Bank.
SBI PO Cut-off 2017
The exam conducting authority announces the SBI cut off marks for all the phases of examination. It announces the sectional cut-off, overall cut-off and category wise cut-off for every phase. The candidates need to obtain the minimum cut-off marks in order to qualify for the examination. The cut-off is determined based on the total vacancies, number of applicants and the level of difficulty in the examination. SBI PO Final Cutoff 2017: The final cutoff for SBI PO 2017 will be based on the normalization of marks for the Mains and GD-PI. It is important for the candidates to note that the marks of Prelims will not be considered in the final cutoff. The below table shows previous year cutoff:
