National Lignite Corporation (NLC) Recruitment through GATE 2019

Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC Ltd.) is expected to announce recruitment for the post of Graduate Executive Trainee through GATE in January 2019. Engineers graduating from Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation, Computer, Mining, and Civil disciplines are eligible for application. The candidates would be shortlisted based on their GATE scores, post which they will be called for personal interview.

Headquartered at Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, NLC India operates in thermal power generation and fossil fuel mining sectors in India. NLC produces approximately 30 million tonnes of lignite annually from its opencast mines in Neyveli (Tamil Nadu) and Bikaner (Rajasthan). NLC has also diversified into production of renewable energy and has installed 51 MW windmill farms and 141 MW solar power plants.

Essential Steps on NLC Recruitment Application Form 2019:

The application for NLC is carried out on its online portal and can be divided into three distinct steps:

Part 1: Sign-Up:

  • Candidates are required to register NLC’s official website through their email address, and are to enter the details as mentioned in their GATE 2019 form
  • After successful registration, the candidate will be sent an email to their registered address that would contain their username and password. The candidates are to keep these credentials for logging in to the NLC portal until the selection process is completed

Part 2: Log-in:

NLC would send an activation link to their registered mail ID. Post activation, the candidates are required to fill in their personal and academic details, along with work experience, if any.

Step 3: Uploading documents:

Candidates are also required to upload some relevant documents which are detailed below:

Step 4: Application fee payment:

  • Candidates belonging to the general and OBC category are liable to pay an application fee of INR 300, in addition to any charges applicable on SBI Collect
  • Candidates belonging to other categories are exempt from the payment of application fee
  • The application fee can be paid online throughcredit card/debit card/net banking from State Bank Collection System

Step 5: Printout of Application Form:

After successful completion and due payment, candidates are required to take a print out of the auto-generated application form, as they would require it if they get shortlisted for the interview.

Selection Process by NLC Through GATE:

  • The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in GATE 2019. The final merit list will be published on NLC’s official website, followed by their cutoff marks for each discipline
  • The shortlisted candidates would be required to log in to the NLC portal to download their call letters for interview, and they’d be informed of the same through SMS/email
  • Shortlisted candidates are also required to produce the following set of documents along with their xeroxed copies at the time of interview:
    • NLC application form
    • Birth certificate
    • Scorecard for GATE 2019
    • Graduation degree certificate
    • Marksheets of all semesters during graduation
    • Community certificate (OBC/SC/ST)
    • Discharge certificate for Ex-Servicemen
    • No Objection Certificate (NOC) for working officials working in the government sector

Remuneration For NLC Recruitment Through GATE 2019:

Graduate Executive Trainees would be assigned the E2 Grade, and will fall under the pay scale of INR 20,600 to INR 46,500 per month, which would be subject to an increment of 3 %. The total Cost-to-Company (CTC) would be approximately 9.0 Lakhs per year.

Training and Probation:

  • Selected candidates would also have to undergo a minimum training period of one year, which is extendable depending upon the nature of responsibilities
  • During this period, the candidates would be paid a Basic Pay, a Dearness Allowance which would be 12.03% of the Basic Pay, and Common Allowance, which would be 40% of the Basic Pay per month
  • In addition to this, candidates are also paid an annual Performance Related Pay and are also provided with the Superannuation Benefit, along with medical support for self and dependents

Service Agreement:

The selected candidates would have to fulfil a service agreement bond valued at INR 1,00,000/- for serving NLC for a period of three years post completion of training.
