NEET Exam Pattern 2020

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a national level qualifying cum entrance exam for admission into colleges offering MBBS and BDS courses. The examination is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) which sets the rules for the exam. The exam consists of 180 questions for 720 marks, testing students in physics, botany, chemistry, and zoology. For a first, NTA has decided to conduct NEET through a computer-based mode.

In 2020, NEET will be conducted in two sessions, namely - February and May and aspirants can attempt the exam on either or both the sessions. More than 15 lakh students are expected to appear for NEET 2020. Therefore the competition is high and it is essential for students to know everything about the exam before starting their preparation.   • The exam focuses on questions in physics, zoology, chemistry, and botany from both XI and XIIth standard.
  • The question paper consists of Multiple-Choice Question (MCQs), where you will be provided with four options out of which you have to choose one.
  • You cannot choose multiple answers for a single question.
  • Each correct answer carries +4 marks and every incorrect answer carries -1 marks. Un-attempted questions carry 0 marks.

NEET 2020 Marking Scheme

  • Each correct answer is provided with 4 marks, an incorrect answer is provided with -1 marks.
  • 0 marks will be awarded for unanswered questions.
  • Maximum marks for each section are 180.
  • Total maximum marks of the paper are 720

NEET 2020 Exam – Language

  • Languages such as Tamil, English, Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Oriya, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, and Kannada can be opted as a medium for the exam.
  • For students opting for English as their medium, the question paper will be provided only in English.
  • Students who opt for Hindi will get a question paper both in Hindi and English.
  • Students who opt for a regional language will get a question paper both in their regional language as well as English.
  • The medium of question paper can be chosen during the filling of the form.
  • This choice cannot be changed by the student once it is exercised.

    NEET Exam Important Information

    • The application form should be submitted online only. There is no provision to submit the application form in offline mode.
    • The online application form is available at www.ntaneet.nic.in
    • Students should provide their own mobile number and correct email address while filling up the form.
    • Photograph and signature should be uploaded in the sizes mentioned in the form only in JPEG or JPG format.
    • False information can lead to total restriction of all examinations conducted by NTA in future.
    • Exam fee should be paid after completion of filling of all the information required. The fee can be paid through credit card, debit card, net banking and e-challan.
    • The fee paid is non-refundable under all circumstances.
