The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission conducts written examination and interview for recruitment of vacant seats of different posts in different departments. MPPSC Exam Syllabus, therefore, can be broadly divided into two parts; MPPSC Prelims Syllabus for MPPSC Prelims Exam and MPPSC Mains Syllabus for MPPSC Mains Exam.
The preliminary examination will consist of two papers of objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 150 marks. This Examination is meant to serve as a screening test only and the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the Candidates, who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination, will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.

The Main examination will consist of seven papers of the conventional essay and each paper carries a maximum of 300 marks. Candidates are required to obtain at least 33% marks in each subject. In the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class, these minimum qualifying marks would be 23%. The marks obtained in the Mains Examination by the Candidates, who are declared qualified for admission to the Interview Test.
