    (c) He studied history as something happened at that point of time and he wanted to know what happened
    (d) He studied it for personal self satisfaction and desire to know.

Directions : Read the following passage and answer the questions [Q.No. 39 to 42] that follow the passage. Your answer to these questions should be based on the passage only.

    Passage
The world dismisses curiosity by calling it idle or mere idle curiosity – even though curious persons are seldom idle. Parents do their best to extinguish curiosity in their children because it makes life difficult to be faced everyday with a string of unanswerable questions about what makes fire hot or why grass grows. Children whose curiosity survives parental disciple are invited to join our university. With the university, they go on asking their questions and trying to find the answers. In the eye of a scholar, that is what a university is for . Some of the questions which the scholars ask seem to the world to be scarcely worth asking. Let alone answering. They asked questions too minute and specialized for you and me to understand without years of explanation. If the world inquires of one of them why he wants to know the answer to a particular question, he may say, especially if he is a scientist, that the answer will in some obscure way make possible new machine or weapon or gadget. He talks that way because he knows that the world understands and respects utility.
But to you who are now part of the university, he will say that he wants to know the answer simply because he does not know it, the way the mountain climber wants to climb a mountain, simply because it is there. Similarly a historian asked by an outsider why he studies history may come out with the argument that he has learnt to respect to report on such occasions, something about knowledge of the past making it possible to understand the present and mould the future. But if you really want to know why a historian studies the past, the answer is much simpler, something happened and he would like to know what. All this does not mean that the answers which scholars to find to their questions have no consequences. They may have enormous consequences but these seldom form the reason for asking the question or pursuing the answers. It is true that scholars can be put to work answering questions for sake of the consequences as thousands are working now, for example in search of a cure for cancer. But this is not the primary function of the scholar, for the consequences are usually subordinate to the satisfaction of curiosity.

    41) According to the passage, which of the following statements is/are correct?
    1. For the scholars their primary aim behind finding answer to the questions is to achieve a favourable consequence
    2. For the scholars their primary aim behind finding answers is the satisfaction of curiosity and consequences are secondary and subordinate to that satisfaction.
    3. In the eyes of a scholar, university is a place for satisfaction of curiosity where they can go on asking their questions and try finding answers.

    11. How to calculate negative ? 0.25 or 0.50 please anybody knows.

      • It’s .025 for 1 marks and the same becomes multiplied if you are converting it to 2 marks I.e. 0.50. let’s say you scored 42 correct and 13 wrong then your score will be (13*0.25) – 42 = 38.75. now multiply this 38.75 into 2(since each question carries 2 marks) and thus your final score will be 77.5 marks.
        You can also do in this way.– 42*2 = 84. 13 * .0.50= 6.5 = 77.5.
        Hope it’s clear now.

    53. Hi Guyz,

KPSC has released its official key answers. Please Check out!! Also share your opinion with other candidates.
There are few discrepancies in official key answers like in

      – Formation on state I.e, Andra Pradesh in 1953
      – Catchment areas of rivers in Karnataka
      – Match the following Questions on article I.e, Article 155, 201, 213, 312

      PAPER 2 :
      – Question on direction I.e, Person turning left, again left and right by 45 degree
      – Question on Cauvery river dispute
      – Few discrepancies wrt to decision making questions

If any one is filing objections please consider these things. Also kindly note that LAST DATE FOR FILING OBJECTIONS IS 28-08-2017.

      • paper 1 Andra state-1953, ANDRA PRADESH-1956

      • Profile photo of Guru Chinagi

If have related source share with link it will help to file document

        • Here are few authentic source which could be used as reference for filing objections.

          Paper 1:
-Gradation list put up in our CM office (or) Govt. of Karnataka official website:
          https://www.karnataka.com/govt/list-of-chief-ministers/
          – Standard book on Polity by M. Laxmikant ( Chapter 5 : Page 5.3 ) + Govt. of AP official website
          http://www.ap.gov.in/about-ap/history/struggle-for-andhra-state/
( Clarification: 1st linguist State of Andra was formed in 1953 and later merger and reorganised (Not Formed Newly) into Andra Pradesh in 1956 as per State Reorganisation Act of 1956)
          – Authentic Source for water resource in Karnataka – Water Resource Dept website
          http://waterresources.kar.nic.in/river_systems.htm
          – Regarding Article 155, 201, 213, 312 : Can refer CONSTITUTION OF INDIA (or) can quote from BARE ACT BOOK.

          Paper 2:
          – It’s a common sense question – One need to have knowledge of which is left , right and directions. Can write a diagram with arrows indicating directions and send it to KPSC
          – Can refer news recent articles Cauvery dispute
          – For decision making questions view point matters most. It’s debatable. You can put forward your debate in 3-4 lines. For example : In setting up of winter camp question. If the person is a govt. servant he is bound to act as per rules and regulations and follow produres like filing complaint with Police and registering FIR, he cannot give promises like politicians do. In case of politicians or local leaders they can promise people to solve immediate problems. So this kind of questions are debatable so you can put forth your view points.

Since I am not filing objections if anyone is interested in filing can use the above standard resources and authentic official links. But remember to do it quickly because LAST DATE IS ON 28-08-2017 and there are many holidays in between.
