Indian Engineering Services are similar to IAS and IFS. It caters to the managerial and technical functions of the Government. The examination is conducted by the UPSC and is considered to be one of the toughest examinations in the country. The examination is conducted for the recruitment of candidates to various posts in Indian Engineering Services. More than 2 lakh candidates register for the examination each year. The candidates can apply online for the examination.
The last date for application for IES 2018 is 23.10.2017.
The examination is conducted in two phases- Prelims and Mains. The Prelims examination is for 2 hours for Paper I and 3 hours for Paper II. The Mains examination is for 3 hours for both the papers.

Candidates who are shortlisted after the Mains examination are required to appear for the personality test, and a maximum of 200 marks are allotted to the test.
