IES Notification 2020, Dates, Application Process

IES Notification 2020 - UPSC had released the official notification of IES 2020 exam on September 25, 2019. With the release of official notification, UPSC had also commenced the IES prelims registration for which the last date was October 15, 2020. IES prelims was concluded on January 5, 2020 and its result was announced on January 20, 2020. 

The official authority had released the dates of IES Mains exam in its examination calendar. The exam is scheduled to be held on June 28, 2020. It is to be noted that candidates do not have to register themselves again for the IES mains exam. 

In its official IES notification, UPSC has described all the important details regarding the application form, IES syllabus, and exam pattern along with the vacancies details. This year, 495 vacancies will be filled through the IES exam under four categories. Detailed information has been given in the article further.

IES Notification 2020 - Important Dates

In the official notification of the IES exam, the authority has released various dates. Candidates can check the schedule of IES 2020 Examination in the table given below:

Stages of IES Examination 2020

UPSC has clarified in the IES notification that the examination will be conducted in three stages:
  • Stage 1: Preliminary Exam to screen successful candidates for the IES Mains.
  • Stage 2: Main Examination includes conventional type papers for selecting successful candidates for the interview.
  • Stage 3: Selected students will be called for an interview at this stage and will be posted on various services announced.

IES 2020 Application Procedure  

The IES application form had to be submitted in online mode only. No application in the offline mode was acceptable. Below given is the detailed procedure to fill IES application form

  • Candidates need to visit the official website in order to fill in the application form for IES Exam.
  • There are two parts of the online application- Registration I and Registration II.
  • Registration I entails the candidate's personal details.
  • Registration II entails the choice of exam center and engineering core branch. 
  • Candidates will be required to upload the scanned copy of passport size photograph and signature before moving to the payment of application fee.
  • With the payment of the fees, the application will be considered to be complete.

Mode of IES Fee Payment

  • The application fees can be remitted online as well as offline.
  • In the case of the online mode of payment, credit card/ debit card and net banking facilities will be available, and in the case of the offline mode of payment, the candidate will be provided with a pay-in-slip for the cash payment at a branch of the State Bank of India.

IES 2020 Application Fees

Candidates belonging to the Female/SC/ST/PwBD category were exempted to pay the application fee. The application fees for the rest of the candidates were Rs.200/- which should be either deposited in any branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility. 

Candidates who choose to fill the application fee in offline mode had to submit the same till 11.59 PM on October 14, 2019. Candidates who choose to fill the application form in the online mode were allowed to fill the fee till 6:00 PM on October 15, 2019. 

For an aspirant who strives to join the Government of India for engineering services, IES exam is an official path to achieve their dreams. Once the application is successfully processed, the candidates need to begin with the preparation for the examination in order to achieve success.

In the official IES notification, the exam authority has stated that 495 vacancies will be filled through IES exam this year. Recruitment will be done under four categories namely -
