A.IBPS RRB Exam analysis

The Institute of Banking and Personnel Selection has released the notification for RRB. IBPS conducts a recruitment drive for recruitment in the Regional Rural Banks. IBPS RRB is organized each year for the post of RRB assistant and RRB officer across the Regional Rural Banks in the country. IBPS has announced vacancies of 8298 for the post of RRB office assistant and 5124 vacancies for the post of Officer Grade 1 for 2017-18. The recruitment for the same will be through the route of IBPS examination. The examination is conducted in three phases which include Prelims, Mains and the Interview. Based on the performance of the candidate across all the phases, the final selection is made.

B. IBPS RRB Admit card

IBPS releases the admit card for the examination on the official website. Separate admit cards will be issued for the Preliminary and the Mains examination for the post of Assistant and office assistant. Candidates can download the admit card from the official website. The candidates will not be allowed to appear for the examination without a valid admit card.

Documents required

In order to download the admit card, you will be required to provide the requisite information that you have provided in the application form. For the purpose, you will be required to have a copy of the duly filled application form which has details about the e mail id, password and the registration number of your application form.

Procedure to download

In order to download the admit card, the candidates will have to follow the below mentioned procedure:
  • Go to the official website of IBPS
  • Click on the IBPS common written examination for RRB officer or office assistant
  • Select the language in which you wish to download the admit card
  • There, you will find a link to download the admit card
  • Submit your registration number and password or the registered email ID and date of birthto print your admit card.

Last date to download (Office Scale-1, Office Assistant)

The last date to download the admit card for Officer Scale 1 is 16th September 2017 and the last date to download the admit card for an office assistant is 24th September 2017.

D. IBPS RRB exam pattern

The examination pattern for the post of Office Assistance is different to that of the post of Office Grade. The sections and the time duration for the posts vary and so does the marks.

IBPS Assistant Preliminary Exam Pattern

For the appointment as an RRB assistant, the examination is conducted into two phases- Prelims and Mains. There is no interview for the post of Office Assistant after the Mains examination. The selection is based on the marks obtained by the candidate in the Mains examination. The examination pattern for RRB Assistant for Prelims is shown below:

IBPS RRB 2017 Officer Grade I, II Preliminary Examination

The examination is conducted in three phases which include Prelims, Mains and an Interview. The final selection is based on the cumulative score obtained by a candidate in the Mains examination and the Interview.

E. IBPS RRB Eligibility criteria

For an applicant to appear in the examination, he needs to fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria:
  1. The candidate must be either an Indian citizen, or a subject of Bhutan or a subject of Nepal or a Tibetan Refugee who came into India before 1st January 1962 with an intention of permanently setting base in India.
  2. The candidate must be aged between 18 to 28 years. Further there is an age relaxation as mentioned below:
    • PWD candidates 10 years
    • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe 5 Years
    • Widows, divorced women and women who are separated from their husbands but have not remarried 9 years
    • Ex-Servicemen / Disabled Ex-Servicemen Actual period of service rendered in defense + 3 years subject to a maximum age limit of 50 years and 8 years for Disabled Ex-servicemen belonging to SC/ST
    • Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) 3 years
  1. Qualifications: The candidate must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian University.
  2. Language Proficiency: Those candidates applying for the post of an Office Assistant in any RRB are required to possess proficiency in the local language of the State in which the RRB is situated.

IBPS RRB application fee

An applicant needs to pay the application fees in order to successfully complete the application. The fees are payable online and are as mentioned below:

  • For SC/ST/PWD/EXSM Category - Rs. 100/-
  • For Other category candidates - Rs. 600/- as application fee.

The IBPs RRB syllabus is very similar for IBPS RRB Assistant and Officer. In the case of the examination for Specialist Officer Grade II, there is an additional section of professional knowledge which is to be answered by the candidates.

G. IBPS RRB Result

The results of IBPS RRB will be declared by the exam conducting authority for each stage for Office grade and Assistant. In order to be eligible for the Mains exam, the candidates need to clear the Prelims examination. Only those candidates who make it to the final merit list will be offered the call letter from the organization.

IBPS RRB cutoff

IBPS will release the cutoff marks after the conduct of examination. The cut off is the minimum score that the candidate needs to secure in order to be eligible for the next stage of examination. IBPS declares the cutoff marks state wise and category wise.

The cut off for IBPS RRB Officer is declared by the exam conducting authority and is different from that of IBPS RRB Assistant. The cut off is declared for Prelims and Mains for State and Category
