The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection is a body which actively conducts recruitment for nationalised banks (except for the State Bank Of India). Every year it conducts Common written examinations for graduates for various posts within its associated banks.

Educational Qualification: A graduate s degree from any government recoganised university is necessary to appear for this examination. An equivalent qualification from a government recognised institute is also acceptable. The candidate should have a marks sheet with the percentage of marks obtained while applying for the examination.

Age: The candidate should be between 20 to 30 years in the year of the examination. The age can be relaxed upto five years for SC/ST candidates, three years for OBC and 10 years for PH.

How to apply: The candidates can login to www.ibps.in. The form and the instructions to fill it are available. The candidates need to read the instruction carefully and fill in the form.

Application Fee:General and OBC candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs 600/- and the rest of the candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs 100/-.

Exam Pattern:The selection process is divided into three phases: Preliminary examination, Main examination and Interviews.

The preliminary examination will be of one-hour duration and will consist of three sections totalling to 100 marks. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The marks will be divided as follows: Quantitative Aptitude 35 marks, English 30 marks, Reasoning Ability 35 marks.

The Main exams will be of 180 minutes duration and the marking pattern will be the same as in the preliminary examination. The exam sections will be: Reasoning and Computer Aptitude 60 marks, English - 40 marks, Data Analysis and Interpretation 60 marks and General Awareness 40 marks.

Both the exams will be bilungal.

During the Interview process the candidates will be marked out of 100 points and the minimum marks for qualification is 45%.

The final selection of the candidates will be based on the total scores of the Main examination and the interview process.

Educational Qualification:
  • A Bachelor s degree from any government recognised university along with a valid marks sheet stating the percentage is the only requirement. The candidate can have an equivalent degree from any other government recognised institute.
  • The candidate should be computer literate along with a Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree in computer operations and have studied computer in high school or in college.

Age Limit:The candidate should be between twenty and twenty eight years in the year of the examination. This rule can be relaxed upto five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC and ten years for PH.

Fees: The fees for the SC/ST/ PH categories is Rs 100/- and for the General and OBC categories is Rs 600/-. The fee payment must be done through online banking.

Selection Procedure: The candidates have to appear for the IBPS CWE Clerk online exams. This is done in two parts, the Preliminary and the Mains. Only those who qualify in the Preliminary exam will be allowed to appear in the Mains.

IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern:

The Preliminary examination will be of one-hour duration and will be worth 100 marks. The exam will be conducted in both English and Hindi. The question paper will be divided into three parts: English 30 marks, Numerical Ability 35 marks and Reasoning Ability 35 marks.

The Main examination will be of 160 minute duration and will comprise of 190 questions divided into four categories: Reasoning and Computer Aptitude 60 marks, English - 40 marks, Quantitative Aptitude 50 marks and General Awareness 50 marks. This exam will be bilingual, that is both in English and Hindi.

Section III

CWE Specialist Officer

Age limit:The age of the candidate has to be between twenty to thirty years in the year of the examination. The age relaxation for SC/ST is five years, OBC is three years and PWD is ten years.

Selection Process: There is a common written test conducted online. All test will be conducted bilingually, i.e. in English and Hindi. The candidates have to score 45% marks to qualify for the Interview round.

The interviews will be conducted by the participating banks, coordinated by the nodal banks and the IBPS.

How to Apply: The candidates can apply online through the official website www.ibps.in. Candidates of the General and OBC categories will have to pay Rs 600/each and candidates of the SC/ST/PWD category will pay Rs 100/each. The payment will be done via online banking.

  1. Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager):
Age limit: Between 18 and 30 years

Qualification: A Bachelor s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics or Accountancy

  • Proficiency in local language as prescribed by the participating RRB/s
  • Desirable: working knowledge of Computer.
  1. Officer Scale-II General Banking Officer (Manager):
Age limit: Between 21 and 32 years

Qualification: Bachelor s degree in any of the following discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy.

  • Two years as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.
  1. Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (Manager):
Age limit: Between 21 and 32 years

Qualification: Information Technology Officer: Bachelor s degree from a recognised University in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

  • Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP etc. One year (in the relevant field)
  • Chartered Accountant: Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. One Year as a Chartered Accountant.
  • Law Officer: Degree from a recognised University in Law or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Two years as an advocate or should have worked as Law Officer in Banks or Financial Institutions for a period of not less than two years
  • Treasury Manager: Chartered Accountant or MBA in Finance from a recognized university/ institution. One Year (in the relevant field)
  • Marketing Officer: MBA in Marketing from a recognized university. One Year (in the relevant field)
  • Agricultural Officer: Bachelor s degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Dairy/ Animal Husbandry/ Forestry/ Veterinary Science/Agricultural Engineering/ Pisciculture from a recognized university or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Two Years (in the relevant field)
  1. Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager):
Age limit: Between 21 and 40 years

Qualification: Bachelor s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Preference will be given to the candidates having Degree/ Diploma in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy. Minimum 5 years experience as an Officer in a Bank or Financial Institutions.

The age relaxation is applicable as per the other categories.

Exam Pattern

The examination patterns for various posts are as follows

Assistant Post - Preliminary Exam Pattern

The paper is worth 80 marks divided into two sections of 40 marks each, Reasoning and Numerical Ability.

Assistant Post - Mains Exam Pattern

The main paper is divided into five parts: Reasoning Paper 50 marks, General Awareness 40 marks, English/Hindi Language Paper 40 marks, Computer Knowledge 40 marks, Numerical Ability 40 marks.

Officer Scale-I Preliminary Exam

The paper has two sections of 40 marks each, Reasoning and Numerical Ability.

Officer Scale-I & Single level Examination for Scale-II (General Banking Officer) - Mains Exam
