HPSC 2020 - Notification, Exam Date, Syllabus, Pattern, and Result

HPSC 2020: Haryana Public Service Commission conducts the Haryana Civil Services exam to recruit candidates for the various prestigious administrative positions of the Haryana government. The departments in which the candidates may land are Administration, Police, Forest, and Engineering.

HPSC exam is a national level exam conducted once in a year. The exam follows the three-tier procedure of the exam, i.e., candidates have to qualify Prelims, Mains and Interview to get the reputed position in the Haryana government. 

HPSC 2020 Notification is yet to be released. The commission will release the notification in the last week of March. The Haryana Public Service Commission will start the application process along with the release of official notification. Before filling the application process, candidates must have a clear idea about HPSC eligibility criteria, application fee, etc.

HPSC 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates interested to take the exam must have a clear understanding of the HPSC eligibility criteria to ensure whether they are suitable to take the exam or not. The eligibility criteria will be available in the official notification of the exam. Candidates can go through the eligibility criteria of the exam given below:


Candidates must be an Indian citizen to be eligible to take the exam. Candidates from other states can also take the exam. 

Academic Qualification

  • Candidates must have completed their graduation from a recognized university. 
  • Aspirants in the final year of graduation, waiting for their results can also apply for the exam. It is to be noted that the marksheet or educational documents should be submitted before the closing of the application date otherwise, their candidature will be canceled. 

Age Criteria

  • The General Age limit of the exam is 21 to 42. 
  • For the post of DSP, the candidate must be of age between 21 to 27 years. 
  • For SC/ST candidates, there is age relaxation for the upper limit is up to 45 years.
  • For physically disabled candidates, an extension of ten years in the upper age limit shall be provided.
  • For general category candidates, up to 5 years in the upper age limit is allowed.

Number of Attempts

There is no specific number of attempts to take the exam. Candidates lying in the age criteria can take the exam. 

Physical Standards

For the post of Haryana DSP, candidates have to fulfill some physical standards in order to be eligible for the exam and they are: 





5’7”(170.18 cm)  



5’2”(157.50 cm)


Men are required to have a Chest with Expansion not less than 34.5”(87.63 cm). There are no such requirements for females.      

HPSC 2020 Application Form

HPSC 2020 application form will be available at the official website of HPSC soon after the release of exam notification. Candidates will be able to fill the HPSC 2020 Application Form in online mode only. Candidates have to fill the application form and submit the application fee before the last date of application, the officials will declare the last date of application in its official notification. 

How to Apply for HPSC 2020?

The steps that the candidates need to follow to fill the HPSC application form are given below: 

  • Visit the official website 
  • Search for the HPSC application form link and click on the same. 
  • The application window will open. 
  • Register using a valid e-mail id and password.
  • Fill the detailed application form and upload the documents. 
  • Pay the application fee and click on “Submit”.
  • Note down the reference number and save it for future correspondence. 

HPSC 2020 Application Fee Details

HPSC aspirants can pay the application fee in both online and offline mode. The application fee can be paid via internet banking facilities/ debit card/credit card facilities. Candidates may also pay the application fee by personally visiting the SBI branch. The fee details are given in the table below:

HPSC 2020 Admit Card

The exam authority will issue an HPSC 2020 admit card for the candidates who have successfully filled the application form. The admit card will be released in online mode for Prelims, Mains and Personality tests separately. The hall ticket will be available at the official website, 3-weeks prior to the exam date. 

Candidates can download their HPSC 2020 hall tickets by following the steps given below: 

  • Go to the official website 
  • Click on “Download Admit Card” in the Important links section on the homepage. 
  • Search for the admit card link of the exam and click on the same.
  • Enter the login credentials i.e. registration number and password. 
  • Click on “Submit” to download the admit card

HPSC 2020 Exam Pattern 

HPSC 2020 will be conducted in three stages i.e., Prelims, Mains and Personality Test. Each stage is a qualifying round. The exam will be conducted in offline mode only. The detailed HPSC 2020 exam pattern is given below: 

Stage 1 - Prelims exam

The details of the HPSC HCS prelims exam is tabulated below: 

  • HPSC HCS prelims exam mode is Offline. 
  • Questions asked in the exam are completely objective type. 
  • There are two papers in the exam i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  • Paper 1 will be General Studies and Paper 2 will be CSAT. 
  • A total of 100 questions will be asked in each paper. 
  • The total marks for each paper will be 100. 
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in both the papers. 
  • 2 hours will be allotted to solve each paper. 

Stage 2 - Mains Exam

  • The exam consists of five papers. 
  • For papers 4 and 5, candidates have the privilege to select the optional subject as per their choice.
  • 4 and 5 are general studies papers, subjects to be chosen from the list of optional provided by the commission.
  • The total marks for the mains exam are 600 marks. The section-wise breakage of marks and time allotted is tabulated below:

Stage 3 - Personality Test

Candidates qualifying HPSC HCS mains exam will be able to appear in the personality test. It is the last stage of the HCS exam. The personality test is carried out on the premises of the Panchkula commission. This stage of the exam is of 75 marks, the final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks scores in Mains exam and the personality test.

HPSC 2020 Result

The HPSC HCS result will be declared at three stages of the HCS exam separately. The authorities will declare the result in the PDF format. Candidates can search for their roll numbers in the available PDF. Aspirants can check their result by following the steps given below: 

  • Visit the official website of HPSC. 
  • Go to the result section of important links. 
  • Search for the link stating HPSC HCS result and click on the same. 
  • Find your roll number in the PDF, if your name exists in the PDF, you will be qualified for the mains exam.

HPSC 2020 cutoff is released by the exam authority along with the declaration of result. Candidates can check the cutoff at the official website of the HPSC. Factors affecting the cutoff marks are:
