Throw light on the various facets of ''Asian trade revolution'' during the Mughal period. (10 Marks, 150 words)
Part 1 - The idea of Asian trade revolution was inherent in the writings of a Dutch whose name was Jacob Vanleur who presented the Peddler theory. The theory was that the Asian merchants were no more than a peddler, thus protraying them in very poor and dark light.
Part 2 - Danes historian Neils Steensgaard in his writings developed Peddlar theory and presented the idea of Asiatic trade revolution in 16th-17th century which was result of not Asian peddlers rather European merchants. He adds coming of Portuguese, Danes, Dutch, British and French to India illustrate his point.
Part 3 - However, In his writings, the Indian historian Om Prakash interpreted this revolution in a different way and raised several pressing questions on the validity of Peddler theory.
