The Gas Authority of India (GAIL) Recruitment through GATE 2019

The Gas Authority of India (GAIL) has released its official notification to recruit for the position of Executive Trainee (ET) from a variety of engineering disciplines. The applications for recruitment in GAIL through GATE 2019 will be available for interested candidates from 12th February to 13th March. The application form for Executive Trainee in GAIL will only be available to candidates who will qualify the GATE 2019.

GAIL is recognised as a Maharatna company and falls under the jurisdiction of the State Government of India. The largest state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company in India, GAIL has its headquarters in New Delhi. Its business segments fall under the categories of liquid hydrocarbon, natural gas, petrochemical city gas distribution, liquefied petrol gas transmission, production and exploration, electricity generation, and GAILTEL.

A full-time Bachelor’s Degree (B.Tech./B.E./B.Sc. Engineering or equivalent) from a UGC/AICTE recognised institution, specialised in Chemical Engineering.


Or


An integrated M.Tech./M.E. degree with a course duration of 5 years (B.Tech./B.E. + M.Tech/M.E.), i.e., a dual degree in engineering in Chemical Engineering.

Executive Trainee (Instrumentation Engineering)

A full-time Bachelor’s Degree (B.Tech./B.E./B.Sc. Engineering or equivalent) from a UGC/AICTE recognised institution, specialised in Instrumentation Engineering.


Or


An integrated M.Tech./M.E. degree with a course duration of 5 years (B.Tech./B.E. + M.Tech/M.E.), i.e., a dual degree in engineering in Instrumentation Engineering.

Executive Trainee (Mechanical Engineering)

A full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Engineering/Information Technology and a full-time Master Degree in Computer Application (MCA)

Essential Steps on GAIL Recruitment Application Form 2019:

  • The application process for the recruitment in GAIL through GATE 2019 will be carried out online and the link will be activated on GAIL’s official website.
  • To begin applying, the candidates would be required to choose the relevant posts.
  • The initial stage of application would require candidates to key in the name of the post for which they wish to apply (Executive Trainee), followed by their date of birth and email address.
  • Candidates would then be required to select their qualifying exam (GATE 2019), followed by filling in their personal details and academic qualifications.
  • Candidates will have to enter their GATE registration number as mentioned in their admit card for GATE 2019.
  • Post the successful submission of the application form, the screen will display a unique GAIL application number. Candidates can note down this number for their reference.
  • Candidates will also be required to download and take a printed copy of the GAIL application as it would be necessary for reference in the future. They would also be required to attach a passport size photograph, identical to the one affixed in the GATE 2019 form, in the printed application.

Selection Process by GAIL on GATE scores:

  • The shortlisting of candidates for the post of Executive Trainee would be performed on the basis of GATE 2019 scores.
  • The shortlisted candidates would be required to appear for GD (Group Discussion )/PI (Personal Interview).  They would then be informed about the same through call letters.
  • Post GD/PI, GAIL will also conduct a test for medical fitness, and candidates who pass this test would then be issued formal job offers.
  • Candidates are also required to produce the following documents:
    • GATE 2019 admit card
    • GATE 2019 results
    • Printout of GAIL application
    • Date of birth certificate
    • Class X certificate and marksheets
    • Class XII certificate and marksheets
    • Qualifying/provisional degree certificate of graduation
    • Marksheets of all semesters
    • NOC from employer (for government employees)
    • PWD certificate (for PWD candidates)
    • Caste certificate (for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories)
    • Ex-Servicemen certificate (for applicable candidates)

Superannuation:

Apart from gratuity and Contributory Provident Fund, employees who superannuate with a minimum service period of 15 years to GAIL are also entitled to a pension fund and Post Retirement Medical Benefits under the Defined Contributory Scheme of GAIL.

Candidates who get recruited in the E-2 Grade as Executive Trainees by GAIL also have to undergo a training/probation period of one year. They would be retained on the same pay scale after successful completion of the training/probation period. Post this period, the candidates may be posted at any of the offices, installations, or projects of GAIL or its joint ventures/subsidiaries.
