The economic policies of British can be grouped into three phases. The first phases (1757- 1813) was marked by mercantilism, drain of wealth and colonial plunder of economy of India. The second phase (1813- 1857) is characterized by free industrial capitalism. The third phases was the period of financial capitalism.
