Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Recruitment through GATE 2019

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) will soon announce the recruitment through GATE 2019 for the post of Engineer Trainee. The application form would be available from the second week of February, and would tentatively be available until March, second week. Graduates in the discipline of Mechanical and Electrical engineering who will appear for GATE 2019 are eligible to apply for this post.

A Schedule ‘A’ Maharatna CPSE, BHEL caters to core sectors such as Transmission, Energy, Transportation, Industry, Water, Defence, and other industrial sectors such as Petroleum, Petrochemicals, Fertilizers, and Metal Cement. BHEL has eight service facilities, four regional facilities, and seventeen manufacturing plants across India.

Eligibility Criteria for BHEL Recruitment for 2019 as Engineer Trainee:

A full-time Bachelor’s Degree (B.Tech./B.E./B.Sc. Engineering or equivalent) from a UGC/AICTE recognised institution, specialised in Mechanical Engineering.


Or


An integrated M.Tech./M.E. degree with a course duration of 5 years (B.Tech./B.E. + M.Tech/M.E.), i.e., a dual degree programme in Mechanical Engineering.

Executive Trainee (Electrical Engineering)

A full-time Bachelor’s Degree (B.Tech./B.E./B.Sc. Engineering or equivalent) from a UGC/AICTE recognised institution, specialised in Electrical Engineering.


Or


An integrated M.Tech./M.E. degree with a course duration of 5 years (B.Tech./B.E. + M.Tech/M.E.), i.e., a dual degree programme in Electrical Engineering.

Final Year Students

Candidates are required to submit their final year marksheets/degree by 1st June, 2019, or at the time of interview.

Essential Steps on BHEL Recruitment Application Form 2019:

The application process for BHEL recruitment through GATE can be divided into three distinct steps:

Step 1: Basic Details:

  • Interested candidates can visit BHEL’s official website to initiate their application process through the “apply online” button
  • They would then have to select the discipline they would wish to apply for, and then later enter their valid GATE registration number
  • The candidates would be required to fill out their personal details, along with educational qualifications
  • Post this, the system would generate an acknowledgment number, and candidates would be required to retain it for the next login

Step 2: Document Upload:

  • To login back into the system, the candidates would be required to key in the acknowledgment number as the username, and their date of birth as the password
  • Candidates then would be required to upload the necessary documents in the system, according to the list below:

Step 3: Payment of  fee:

  • The application fee for BHEL recruitment is INR 300, and service tax
  • Candidates can make the payment either through credit card/debit card/net banking
  • Candidates belonging to the SC, ST, PWD, Ex-Servicemen categories are exempt from paying the application fee
  • Candidates would be advised to take a printed copy of their application form, to be furnished at the time of interview

Selection Process by BHEL on GATE Scores:

  • The candidates who clear the cut-off for the GATE scores will be notified through call letters sent to their registered email id
  • The shortlisted candidates would have to appear for a personal interview, along with the printed copy of their online application form
  • Candidates will be recruited on the basis of the performance in their interview and on their GATE scores. The division of marks is as follows:
    • 75% weightage to the number of marks scored in GATE 2019 (out of 100)
    • 25% weightage to interview performance

Health and Medical:

  • Recruitment in BHEL is also subject to the candidates’ health, and an officer authorized by BHEL would conduct the medical exam
  • Candidates with less than 40% of disability would not be liable for reservation

The training period would last for a period of one year, after successful completion of which the candidates would be absorbed as Engineers on the pay scale of INR 24,900-50,000. The candidates would be subject to receiving a basic pay of INR 24,900 along with DA.

Service Agreement:

The selected candidates would be required to execute a service agreement, whose bond would be INR 2,00,000. Under the service agreement, they would be required to serve BHEL for a period of three years after training. For this purpose, the candidates would also have to procure a surety bond that would be executed by their parents/guardians for reliable surety.
