    APPSC Syllabus for State Services Exam

    APPSC Group 1 Syllabus for State Services Exam:

    Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has released the official recruitment notification (Notification No. 36/2016) for 78 posts of Group-I Services. Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC)  has released and notified new syllabus & exam pattern for upcoming Pre and Main exam of Andhra Pradesh PSC. Applicants who applying for the Andhra Pradesh Civil services (pcs) first one is Pre-examination (objective) and primary exam (Written) will have new APPSC Group 1 Syllabus & Exam Pattern. APPSC Group 1 Syllabus is vast and needs to be examined carefully before making notes.

    APPSC Syllabus for Group 1 is very important for doing preparation well for the exam. Lack of knowledge for the syllabus is the main cause to face failure in Examination. Applicants may start their preparations with the help of APPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern and score good marks.

    For APPSC Group 1 Syllabus, one needs to know about the new APPSC Exam Pattern. To get recruited through Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, candidates need to clear the three most essential sections which are as follows:

    • APPSC Pre Exam
    • APPSC Main Exam
    • Interview

    APPSC Group 1 Syllabus, therefore, can be broadly divided into two parts; APPSC Group 1 Prelims Syllabus for APPSC Prelims Exam and APPSC Group 1 Mains Syllabus for APPSC Mains Exam.

    Phase I: APPSC Syllabus for Group 1 for Preliminary Exam

    The preliminary examination of APPSC – PCS will comprise of objective type questions. APPSC PCS Prelims will be qualifying in nature. The applicants will be given multiple choices for each question. There will be total 150 questions, each carrying 1 mark i.e. total marks assigned for the preliminary examination is 150. The duration of the examination will be 150 minutes. This Examination is meant to serve as a screening test only and the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the Candidates, who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination, will not be counted for determining their final order of merit. You can also download the APPSC Syllabus for Group 1 for prelims in the pdf form.

    APPSC Group 1 Syllabus for Prelims Exam:

    1. Events of National and International importance.
    2. Current affairs – International, National and Regional.
    3. General Science and its applications to the day to day life and Contemporary developments in Science & Technology and Information Technology
    4. Geography – World, National and Andhra Pradesh.
    5. History of India Ancient, Medieval, Modern –socio-cultural, Economic and political affairs with special emphasis on Indian National Movement.
    6. Indian Polity and Governance; Constitutional issues, public policy formulation and implementation, Governance Reforms and e-governance initiatives.
    7. Economic development in India since Independence- role of planning; Planning Commission, Niti Ayog, India’s economic problems such as poverty and unemployment, agrarian crisis, irrigation and water, sustainable development, inflation and balance of payments, growth with stability, growth with Social justice
    8. Centre-State relations, Finance Commissions, Sharing of Resources between Centre and States – Decentralization
    9. India’s Economic reforms –Banking, Financial, trade and social sector; New challenges in a Globalized context – Global competition, Financial market instabilities, FDI flows, GST etc.,
    10. Environmental degradation and challenges – Sustainable Development and Environment Protection.
    11. Disaster Management; Vulnerability profile, prevention and mitigation strategies Application of remote sensing and GIS in the assessment of Disaster.
    12. Logical reasoning, analytical ability and data interpretation.
    13. Data Analysis
    14. Bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and its Administrative, Economic, Social, Cultural, Political, and legal implications/problems.

    Phase II: APPSC Syllabus for Group 1 for Mains Exam

    For the Written Examination, there are basically five papers in APPSC Main Examination is of Essay, General Studies Paper 1, General Studies Paper 2, General Studies Paper 3 & General Studies Paper 4. Total marks assigned to Written Examination is 750. The applicants will have to qualify English paper which is of 150 marks. The marks ov The marks obtained in the Mains Examination by the Candidates, who are declared qualified for admission to the Interview Test.     APPSC Group 1 Syllabus for Mains Exam:

    General English:

    The exam is of basic class X level and is Qualifying in nature. The marks obtained will not be counted for final selection.

    SECTION-III

    Vocabulary Usage

    • One Word Substitutes – Recognition and Usage
    • Synonyms – Recognition and Usage
    • Antonyms – Recognition and Usage

    • Expansion of Proverb /Sayings

    SECTION –IV

    Composition

    • Write a Paragraph using the given Words/Phrases
    • Summarizing /Precis Writing
    • Essay writing on Topics of Social relevance
    • Description of a given Picture/Symbols
    • Letter writing (Informal & Formal)
    • Non-Verbal Communication (Body Language)

    PAPER 1 – General Essay

    Candidate should write three Essays one from each section compulsorily (Three sections in total). Each Essay carries 50 marks.

    SECTION-I – Crisis management, Social, Economic and Health Problems, Analysis and solutions, Conflict Resolution, Decision Making, Ecological intelligence.

    SECTION-II – Current events, policies, schemes and programs of National and International importance.

    SECTION-III – Current events, policies, schemes and programs of the State of Andhra Pradesh.
